WELCOME TO OUR NEW LOOK
After months of listening, dreaming, and building, we’re proud to share our new visual identity with you.

This rebrand is more than just a logo. It’s a reflection of who we’ve become—and who we’re becoming.
As we grow into the next chapter of our work, we wanted a visual identity that honors our roots while making space for the future: bold, vibrant, and unapologetically us.

A Logo That Blooms with Us
Our new logo is more than a visual—it’s a living symbol of who we are.

Over the years, NQAPIA has grown from a coalition of leaders to a national movement of queer and trans AANHPI power. Our new logo reflects that evolution.
Rooted in cultural symbolism, each floral element represents a facet of our community’s strength, beauty, and interconnectedness.

The new logo blossoms in several forms—each centered in the Q of “NQAPIA,” reminding us that queerness is not separate from our identities, but the very heart of them.

Lotus Flower – A symbol of resilience, the lotus rises from muddy waters and flourishes. It speaks to our community’s strength in adversity, and our continued growth rooted in cultural heritage and radical joy.

Lotus Leaf – Representing grounding and nourishment, the leaf reminds us of the everyday care and labor that sustain our work and our people.

Lotus Seed Pod – A nod to legacy, future generations, and ancestral guidance. This design holds the memory of what’s come before and the seeds of what’s to come.

Hibiscus – A bold, tropical flower that symbolizes beauty, vitality, and fierce pride—especially significant for our communities in the Pacific Islands and beyond.
Our Jewel-Toned Identity: Color Meanings
Each color in our new palette tells a part of our story. Inspired by gemstones and natural elements, these colors reflect the beauty, strength, and diversity of the queer AANHPI community.

Garnet Red
Deep and rich, garnet reflects ancestral strength, intergenerational resilience, and love rooted in liberation.

Lotus Pink
Soft and radiant, this pink symbolizes self-expression and rebirth. Like the lotus that blooms in muddy waters, our communities continue to thrive through adversity with grace and boldness.

Sunrise Orange
A fiery burst of movement and momentum. Orange represents change, collective energy, and the dawn of new possibilities.

Jasmine Yellow
Bright and gentle, this yellow honors our warmth and cultural heritage. It evokes light, clarity, and new beginnings.

Lavender Purple
Historically tied to queer resistance, lavender represents joy, fluidity, and pride. It’s a tribute to queer and trans elders who paved the way.

Midnight Indigo
A grounding tone that evokes wisdom and depth. Indigo speaks to the vastness of our histories and the enduring power of organizing across generations.

Emerald Green
Symbolizing healing and abundance, emerald celebrates growth—within ourselves, our movements, and our communities.

Jade Pale Green
A nod to tradition and transformation, jade signifies balance, prosperity, and a future guided by collective care.
From Then to Now
Our earliest logo—green, crisp, and lotus-centered—reflected our foundational commitment to organizing AANHPI communities. The 2022 refresh leaned into clarity and modernism. Now, as we celebrate 20 years, we honor that foundation while embracing a brand that’s more flexible, expressive, and joyful—just like our communities.

We believe our logo should grow with us. That’s why you’ll see it in multiple colors and floral variations throughout the year, representing the many ways our community shows up—with care, creativity, and courage.

Why We Rebranded
This rebrand is not just a new look—it’s a reflection of who we’ve become, what we’ve learned, and how we want to carry our communities forward.

When NQAPIA first formed, our focus was on building a coalition—bringing together queer and trans AANHPI organizers across the country, many of whom were doing this work in isolation. Our early branding reflected the clarity and urgency of that moment: plant a flag, make our presence known, and show that we are here.

Two decades later, our work has expanded. We are no longer just gathering community—we’re cultivating a movement. And with that growth comes a need to visually reflect the richness of our identities, the intersectionality of our experiences, and the creativity that pulses through every part of our work.

We rebranded to create a visual identity that is:
-
More reflective of the diversity within our communities, from diasporic experiences to generational leadership to regional organizing styles.
-
More expressive of our joy, resilience, cultural roots, and the many ways queerness and heritage bloom together.
-
More flexible, allowing us to honor both our heritage and the emergent needs of our people—whether we’re rallying against harmful legislation, celebrating trans elders, or welcoming a new generation of organizers.
This new brand is layered, alive, and deeply rooted in collective input and creative imagination. It holds space for all of us.
What Hasn't Changed
While our colors, logo, and design system have evolved, our core remains the same.
-
We are still a national hub for queer and trans AANHPI organizing.
-
We are still led by and accountable to our communities.
-
We still believe that visibility is not the end goal—liberation is.
We continue to fight against systems that harm us and build toward a future where our communities not only survive—but thrive. From policy advocacy to leadership development, from storytelling to solidarity actions, we are guided by the same commitment we’ve held since day one: to center our people, uplift our voices, and move in collective power.

This rebrand honors the past while clearing the path for what’s ahead. It’s a reminder that while we may evolve in form, our foundation is as strong as ever.
