External Conferences

At the nation’s largest annual LGBTQ+ conference convened by the National LGBTQ Task Force, NQAPIA coordinated the Asian American Institute (AAPI Institute)—a day-long learning space centering AANHPI leadership, organizing skills, and political education. We also hosted an AANHPI Community Reception to celebrate community, foster peer support, and connect local and national leaders. Creating Change was a launching pad for collaboration, and our presence ensured AANHPI voices and strategies were front and center.

At this premier national convening for progressive organizers, digital strategists, and issue campaigns, NQAPIA co-hosted the AAPI Caucus, a space to surface priority issues, share tools, and align strategies across the progressive ecosystem. We also co-hosted an AAPI Community Reception that built intergenerational and cross-issue relationships. These spaces created direct pathways for AANHPI organizers to shape national narrative, electoral engagement, and rapid-response coordination.

As a national leader advancing culturally responsive mental health for AANHPI communities, NAAPIMHA provides space for critical conversations on wellness. NQAPIA attends and participates in sessions that explore culturally grounded care, queer and trans-affirming practices, and community health strategies. Mental health is a movement issue, and our participation helps bridge advocacy, communications, and program design with healing-centered approaches.

NQAPIA attended the Hmong National Development Conference, a convening that uplifts Hmong community leadership, cultural resilience, and cross-community solidarity. Our participation allowed us to deepen connections with Hmong leaders and organizations, strengthen shared advocacy efforts, and expand our cross-diaspora collaborations.

NQAPIA participated in SEARAC’s LAT program, a flagship advocacy training program that builds the capacity of Southeast Asian American leaders to engage in federal and local policy advocacy. We contributed to the movement for immigrant justice, deepening solidarity across Southeast Asian and broader immigrant communities, and strengthening our collective strategies to resist detention, deportation, and criminalization. LAT provided a critical space to connect immigrant justice with queer and trans liberation work.

As part of this global celebration and convening of LGBTQ+ communities, NQAPIA organized the API Community Reception, featuring Chantele Wong, the first out Asian American U.S. Ambassador, serving as U.S. Director to the Asian Development Bank, and bringing together local and visiting AANHPI leaders, artists, and partners. We also supported lei laying and other cultural/community observances that honored our diasporic lineages and collective resilience. WorldPride was a stage for global visibility and coalition-building, and our programming grounded celebration in culture, history, and advocacy.
