The Good Trouble Mini-Grant

The 2025 Southern Mini-Grant Program is designed to support grassroots organizations serving LGBTQ+ Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities in the U.S. South. This program provides funding for events and activities that strengthen community power, promote advocacy, and foster organizing and mobilization efforts.

Eligible activities may include educational forums, leadership development workshops, community gatherings, healing spaces, and other initiatives that support LGBTQ+ AANHPI communities in the region. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for events occurring between June 1 - August 31, 2025.

By offering these mini-grants, we aim to empower grassroots organizations to build resilient communities, strengthen advocacy and organizing efforts, and foster healing and connection for LGBTQ+ AANHPI individuals in the South.

The Application Process

1. Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be grassroots organizations or community groups explicitly serving LGBTQ+ AANHPI communities in the U.S. South.

  • Alignment with community power-building, civic engagement, or healing efforts.

  • Clear and feasible event or activity plan.

  • Stated impact on LGBTQ+ AANHPI communities in the South.

6. Funding Conditions:

  • Acknowledge NQAPIA as a co-sponsor of your event or activity. We will provide your group with a one page communications guide that provides our logo and directions for tagging.

  • Organizations must participate in one check-in call with an NQAPIA staff member. This check-in is focused on relationship building and identifying any additional areas that NQAPIA is able to support your event.

  • Funds are awarded for the activities laid out in the application. While we understand changes may arise, we require a check-in if the activities of the grant change and funding may be implicated.

  • A final report must be submitted by September 15, 2025. NQAPIA will provide a reporting template. The report is not meant to be extensive, and we have written it to take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

7. Payment Conditions

  • Funds will be paid via bill.com; ePayment can be made if grantees create a bill.com account, otherwise a paper check will be automated.
