NQAPIA’s Getting The Vote OUT!

As we enter into this election season, NQAPIA is your resource for all things political (non-partisan!) in the Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community!  There’s a lot of activity happening, not just in Washington, DC, but in all of our communities around the country.

NQAPIA is taking part in a number of national initiatives to promote political and civic engagement, including:

  • National Voter Registration Day:  NQAPIA is part of a broad-based coalition of organizations recognizing September 25 as National Voter Registration Day.  Local AAPI and LGBT organizations around the country are getting their communities registered to vote, and we’re helping!
  • AALDEF Exit Poll Project:  NQAPIA is a partner in AALDEF’s national exit poll, which will take place in over 10 states.  We will help monitor poll sites for issues resulting from barriers to access to make sure our communities are best able to exercise their right to vote.  If you are interested in signing up, get more information here.
  • 18MillionRising.org:  This unique project is helping “get your vote on” by leveraging the power of technology and social media in the AAPI community.  18MR is about us, all 18 million of us!
  • QueertheVote.org: The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is getting the vote out in LGBT communities around the country.
