WHAT WE DO
NQAPIA builds the capacity of local, grassroots, and affinity-based LGBTQ+API groups; advance an intersectional justice and equity agenda for all the communities we call home; support intergenerational family (re)building and engagement; and ensure LGBTQ+API representation everywhere, especially in research and resource development.
Capacity Building
We provide capacity building support to a wide and growing range of small, mostly volunteer-run local, grassroots, and affinity-based groups across the country.
We do so through fiscal sponsorships,
technical assistance, policy education, assistance, organizational and leadership development programs, access to peer networks, and funding.

Policy Advocacy
We advance an intersectional equity and justice agenda for all LGBTQ+ Asians and Pacific Islanders, and all the communities we call home.
We do so through outreach and education, issue-based campaigns, voter mobilization, and protection, partnerships and coalitions, and impact litigation.
Convenings
We convene the country's largest LGBTQ+ API conference every three years, alongside local, regional, and leadership summits, multi-city forums and community gatherings, the annual API Institute at Creating Change, and our legendary Community Catalyst dinners.
We also host virtual events, such as the annual "State of the LGBTQ+API Movement" and continue to develop hybrid programming as we navigate the pandemic.

Representation
We provide and advocate for more inclusive representation of LGBTQ+API people and our perspectives everywhere, and especially in research and the development of resources.
We do so through a wide range of partnerships and coalitions, presentations, panels, and other educational activities, the COMPASS Report of LGBTQ+API-serving organizations and initiatives, and facilitating outreach for and the culturally-competent production of research and resources.
