Love Opens the Closet Door
In the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community, coming out is difficult. LGBTQ children feel their honesty about sexual orientation will shame or dishonor parents, but staying in the closet takes a greater toll, causing isolation, depression, and even suicide.
NQAPIA provides a solution to this dilemma: our Family Acceptance Workshops offer API parents the support and tools they need to open a dialog with their children about coming out.
This is the first step towards closer, more loving relationships—and saving lives.
In a confidential environment, these workshops will be led by the parents who appear in our “Family is Still Family” PSA Campaign. They have personally experienced the confusion and fear of learning they have LGBT kids, but they pushed through the crisis, offering love, support, and acceptance. They will help you begin the crucial conversation with your own children.
Our parents will travel across the country to share their stories to help us remember Family is Still Family, Love is Still Love.
Registration is not yet available. Stay connected @NQAPIA to learn when they open!
All of our workshops are FREE to attend, but if you would like to support our family acceptance work, you can donate at bit.ly/supportfamilyacceptance.
