RISE UP!
NQAPIA Week of Action & Education on Immigration
April 12th – 18th, 2015
QAPIs RISE UP! Mobilize for Migrant Rights
President Obama announced an executive order on immigration that will benefit up to 5 million people living in the United States. Though the implementation is being delayed by partisan politics, we know we will prevail. RISE UP! to host a COMMUNITY CONVERSATION on how our community benefits from DACA, DAPA and the expansions in visas.
The President’s order also left out many members of our communities. Our family members who have records were excluded as felons. LGBT communities without legal paperwork to show familial ties were dismissed. Demands to protect trans folks in detention or to end profiling in the immigration system have been ignored. RISE UP! to demand a:
- End the use of racial and religious profiling in all immigration matters
- Elimination of immigration detention especially for vulnerable communities including LGBTQ individuals
- Stop the deportation of our communities
Together we can dispel the myth of “families not felons”, work for inclusion of all LGBTQ people in administrative relief and demand dignity and inclusion in immigration
